The colors of the dark

Click to enlargeIt’s the name we’ve given to the most important exhibition for us, the one that is taking place in the Vittoriano complex, in Rome, from the last 25th February till the 25th March. All week, non stop, absolutely free. The crowd of people that have already visited it it’s stunning, and surely it’s due to the place where it’s situated, but we’ve achieved our goal: I don’t think speleology and the world of caves have ever been offered to such a mixed audience.

Myanmar 2012, a fast prospection

Click to enlargeDuring these days, although busy organizing the exhibition of Vittoriano, we did not miss even a quick exploration in Myanmar (ex Burma).

Tepui 2012, final report

The expedition Tepui 2012 is now coming to end, more than a month and a half of research, exploration and documentation in the Venezuelan tepui. This year the programs were limited by bad weather and logistical problems that forced us to change the original targets. Nevertheless, the final report is very positive.
Geological research have ranged from Roraima, to Akopan up to Auyan Tepui, including a geomorphological study of the entire Gran Sabana. Studies were performed on silica dissolved in water, the processes of arenizzation, on speleothems and mineralization inside the caves.

Project Tepui, fragments of lost worlds

Santa Elena de Uayren, 30 gennaio 2012

After months of preparation in Italy and over 20 days of pre-organization here in Venezuela, starts a new chapter of Project Tepui, one of the most important and fascinating of our association.
Goes back nearly twenty years ago, the first approach to these mountains, and in particular to Auyan Tepui, the mountain of devil, huge plateau of 700 km2, which still holds immense underground secrets. Followed two great expeditions in the '90s, with the exploration of that which was considered the largest cave system in quarzoareniti, the System Auyan Tepui Noroeste.
Then again in 1995 with the joint between the Sima Corpuscolo and the Ali Primera inside the giant Sima Aonda. Explorations marked by very deep pits, canyons and wild rivers by the typical amber color of this land.
