On June 27, Giuseppe Orefici, an Italian archaeologist and one of the protagonists of the study of American indigenous societies, passed away.
Active mainly in Peru and Bolivia since the late 1970s, Giuseppe Orefici has inextricably linked his name to the archaeological site of Cahuachi, the main ceremonial center of the Nazca culture.
In 1997, Giuseppe Orefici directed the first archaeological research organized by the La Venta Association in the area of the Río La Venta (Chiapas, Mexico), thus starting a project that continued for over ten years and that has played a major role in characterizing the history of our association.
A final wish for a good trip to a man who has traveled so much.
