The difficulty of the exploration lies in the fact that, being thermal caves, the internal temperature is high (about 37 C) with 100% of humidity, absolutely hostile to the human body. To operate in this extreme environment the two teams will use techniques and material studied to let them stay in safely and for a long time. They will use frozen respirators and suits insufflated with air. Some of these technologies are derived from the previous explorative experience of La Venta Association with the Naica project, developed in the Cueva de Los Cristales in Mexico, where the temperature reaches 50 C.

The archeological surveys will be made by the Monuments and Fine Arts Office of Agrigento; the project will provide a program of assistance and support to the archeologists, who will be able for the first time to carry on the research and the sample collection directly in situ. In the same project finds place a medical research, conducted by a specialized medical team, monitoring and studying the physiological reactions of the human body exposed to this special environment. Besides these activities, several scenes will be shot for a documentary that will tell from the beginning this adventure.

The proyect is supported locally by Rocco Forte Resort & Golf and Cantine Settesoli and by Ferrino, Electrolux, Dolomite, GTLine, Allemano Metrology, Amphibious, Scurion, De Walt, Bialetti, Chelab, Mastrel.
