Finally, on day 3, after climbing a wall and reaching the ridge above us, we overlooked a natural amphitheater at the bottom of which there is the sotano "Chiccivà". After equipping with much difficulty a route of progression, due to the dense vegetation that prevented access to the edge, after a descent of about 100m we reached the base and from there we made a quick survey; the scarcity of time, in fact, prevented a more thorough exploration. But this will be the program of successive expeditions, our, in fact, is an expedition aimed at identifying as many cavities as possibile and at the knowledge of the territory.
The second team in the meantime moved in the area of Veinte Casas exploring the Cueva del Chute Redondo, a cave of 1100 meters of development with great salons that behaves as an overflow and are part of a larger and deeper system that the spanish speleo diver Cecilio has explored for 90 m and that continues in huge salons of crystalline water.
After gathering the two teams, in the following days we performed several surveys in the forest above the colony Veinte Casas. With many hours of travelling and grueling ups and downs, we have reached each other and descended several sotanos, plus some sinkholes and small vertical caves of modest development.
The last two days, however, the surprises: on the recommendation of some locals we have been taken to a new area characterized by promising signs of karstic activity. Descending along a fracture we entered a large room, where the sun, penetrating with its rays, illuminated a large hall.
On the last day, the 8, we finally entered trough a pit in a deeper system, with plenty of water flow. Currently we have stopped on a second pit where we can hear a loud noise of waterfall.
Tomorrow we'll go back to the selva, this time in the area of Tierra Colorada where it will be even harder. There are five days left, always in search of caves, but this time we will go much lighter as equipment and supplies, only the essential, to move fast in the tagle of vegetation.
